Parental controls guide
What is Parental Control?
CyberPatrol Parental Control software helps parents manage what their children can see on the internet and how long they browse for. It checks websites against a comprehensive database to ascertain what category they fall into (e.g. educational, entertainment, pornographic) and allows or blocks the website from being displayed on your computer, according to your preferences.
The software also filters incoming and outgoing chat so they can't give out personal details in chat rooms and are protected from inappropriate language.
How are sites classified?
A dedicated team of experts classify websites into 13 categories and update the software. This process is ongoing. Categorization is verified by site exploration and careful comparison with CyberPatrols' published criteria.
As the internet changes rapidly it's impossible for any filtering vendor to catch all sites because new ones can be published within minutes. So those not yet categorized in the database are analyzed by CyberPatrol's Web Page Analysis and CyberPATTERNS technology and, where applicable, dynamically classified into one of the categories.
This means that all websites are scanned prior to being displayed on your computer, assigned to one of the categories and blocked or allowed accordingly.
